I was born in Seoul, Korea and soon after was adopted by a wonderful American family. After I was adopted, I moved with my new family to East Windsor, New Jersey, then to Strongville, Ohio, and finally to Yorba Linda when I was 3 years old. I also have a younger sister (blood relative) who was also adopted by my parents and brought here to the United States. After briefly going back to Georgia for 2nd grade, I went to Servite High School and then Cal State Fullerton. I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts and entered seminary shortly thereafter.
What are some of the factors that led to your decision to enter the seminary and discern the question of a vocation to the priesthood?
Who are some of the people who influenced your decision to enter the seminary? What is it about them that assisted you?
I just felt it was time. I had done much discerning and I feel that God wants me to be a Diocesan Priest. I felt I can only continue my discernment process in the seminary.
Describe the moment that you knew you wanted to take the next steps to become a priest?
I have felt the calling to the priesthood since high school. But I have only began to actively pursue the calling during my last year of college. I attribute the desire to my desire to do God’s will and him giving me a clear answer after I ask him what he wants me to do with my life. I understand that God has a plan for me and his plan will bring me the most happiness.
My Father has influenced my decision to become a priest. He has always talks about the priests who have influenced his life, many of whom he has known since childhood. I think it is awesome that priests have had such a big influence my father’s life and I hope that I can have that same positive impact on someone’s life.
